Thistle Dew Web Site

I've been given the task of updating/hosting the Thistle Dew Dessert Theater's web site. I've recovered basic content from cached copies on live.com, and have produced the main page.

http://rocemabra.com/thistle

I'll be adding new pages and the whole thing will eventually be addressed as http://thistle-dew.net once the appropriate DNS changes are complete.

TV Schedule

I'm often forgetting to check out some of my favorite shows, or at least forgetting to set the VCRs (yes, still doing it old school,) so here goes for the next two weeks

Tue 5/20
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM - CW31 (12) - Reaper (last week's episode - the tape ran out 30 minutes in)
and Reaper (Season Finale)
Thu 5/22 - CW31 (12) - Smallville (season premiere rerun - think I may have missed it when originally on)
Thu 5/29
8:00 - 11:00 - ABC10 (10) - Lost

I guess the season's really over. Looks like I can get it all on one VCR. I'll clear out both VCR scheduled tapings tonight.

Twilight Walk for Wishes

My wife and I participated in last night's Twilight Walk for Wishes as part of team Alicia Lynn Rocks. Alicia is the daughter of our friends Bob and Linda, who lost her battle with cancer in 2005. The walk was held at a Swainson's Hawk Park in a developing area of Natomas. We contributed a total of $150 towards the effort. The annual walk benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This was our third year of participation.

The 2.4 mile walk was around the shores of "Fisherman's Lake", a man-made lake in the park that was quite enjoyable, although a bit warm while the sun was still up.

Somewhat Seeking Shade Sacto Stroll

A hot day for a walk (about 90 at lunch, heading towards 100) but bringing my camera today finally paid off. One of the two sea lions was out in Old Sac and even took a quick plunge to cool off.

I took a bunch of photos, although my camera is crap and the conditions weren't all that great (too much shade over the dock).

Cemetery Loop

I took a bit of a new route today in my walk @ lunch. This time I made a detour through the Sacramento City Cemetery. It's a pretty historic place, with a number of famous Californians buried there. The total walk was just shy of 3.5 miles.

Sea Lions in Sacto

A most unusual sighting today in my walk @ lunch. Down in Old Sacramento there were two large sea lions lounging on the dock. Not so unusual were the spring turtles sunning themselves on the river bank. I counted 13 in all, plus a squirrel and a pigeon.

The walk: Just over 2 miles.
The weather: comfortable, with a slight overcast
